Meet the winning project of this year's best -in design price for Home Renovation
House on the park is a breathtaking example of the preservation and reinvention of architecture and has received the best design award for the renovation of home. This ambitious project was located in the historic Wychwood Park in Toronto and was a collaboration between the architecture firm Halperkül and the interior design studio pencil design, which worked closely on the conversion of a centuries-old Edwardian house into a contemporary sanctuary for a family of six. The result is a harmonious mix of inheritance, modern statements, undeniable luxury and thoughtful rooms.
The architectural expert at Hautperkül was largely involved in the comprehensive renovation and expansion of this inpatient residence of 1918. The company kept the historical facade and the Grand Central staircase of the house and modernized its structure to exceed the current building regulations and energy standards. One of the most important interventions included a new store for east wings and penthouse, which introduced additional space and functions without impairing the original architecture. Long -lived materials such as fiber cement panels, standing seam metal and glass were used to create a contemporary addition that complements the received Edwardian character.
Süperkül configured the layout inside to improve circulation and optimize the natural light. A new glaster link connects the original home with the addition, which is seamlessly over and present and at the same time offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.
The pencil design brought warmth and art into the interior and created spaces that honor the Edwardian roots of the house and at the same time incorporate with contemporary personality. In the living room, tailor -made bronze screens and white steel columns with marble performances interpret traditional design elements with modern sensitivity. A lively marble fireplace and a herringbone -oak floors add wealth and texture, while a dramatic oeck overall light floods the room with natural light and encourages its sculptural details.
The heart of the room is a blue spiral staircase, a collaborative triumph between the brilliant still, pencil design and experienced manufacturers. The sculptural form of the staircase, the liquid shape of the staircase, offers a playful counterpoint to the formal elegance of the room and embodies the vision of the project to mix history with innovation.
This extraordinary project underlines the synergy between the architectural precision of Süperkül and the inner creativity of the pencil design. The winner of our Home Renovation Award 2025, Janet Rosenberg & Studio Anjinnov Management and landscape designer Janet Rosenberg & Studio, is for the renovation of the home extension, which sees no limits and fits the past and present seamlessly.
