2025 Victorian Architecture Award unveiled

The winners of the Victorian Architecture Awards 2025, which was organized by the Australian Institute of Architects – Victorian Chapter – were announced last night.

A total of 19 named awards, 21 architectural prices and 17 awards were awarded in 15 categories from over 350 entries.

A topic among this year's awards was projects that highlight the transformative power of architecture in the design of communities, including the Northern Memorial Park Depot by Searle X Waldron Architecture, which has awarded the prestigious medal Victorian architectural medal.

In the category of residential architecture – houses (changes and additions), Dunstan von SSDH TOP award. This house plays in Preston's Newland housing and embodies the efforts of the garden city of the original development and recognizes the reality of our changing suburbs.

The named award in residential architecture – houses (new) was awarded by Studio Bright to Hedge and Arbor House – described by the jury as a project that skilfully brings the tension between domestic suburbia and the wild terrain of its bush reserve.

Nightingale Preston von Breathe Architecture won the “Multiple Housing” exploratory category – and recognized the project as an increased benchmark for apartments that prioritize the basics and at the same time set up a lively neighborhood.

In the category of interior design, Melbourne Place was recognized by Kennedy Nolan for his richly relaxed and meticulously designed interior, which confidently redefined the experience of a contemporary hotel.

The winners of the named and architectural prices will now be considered for the National Architecture Awards.
