While we move into the second half of 2025, I wanted to learn more about the design trends in the living room and those that they can see more in the coming months. I have typed the interior designers across the country to get their contributions, what faded and what will come.
4 living room trends that are “out” for 2025
Strong minimalism
Ultrassparse rooms are not that that most people are looking for these days, explains designer Amy McCoy, the founder of McCoy Design Studio. “Strong minimalism begins to fade in 2025 and makes space for a warmer, layered aesthetics,” she says. “We see a strong shift in cozy textures and colorful upholstery that give a room depth and personality.”
Designer Molly Miller agrees. “Sterile, excessively stored rooms arouse warmth, comfort and personal design,” she says.
Fat -colored colors are a good way to create a more layered space, but the designers that I spoke to suggest to do everything with funny prints. Regardless of whether flowers, stripes or geometry, printed accents really divide in your room. “Pattern game is a large part of this movement, be it through pillows, wallpaper or upholstery,” added McCoy.
Viral fast furniture and accessories
It is not necessary to constantly redesign your room to keep up with the latest looks. Classic details are always green for a certain reason, and it is probably best to adhere to these objects to at home – and your wallet. “People are fed up with buying trendy things that fall apart,” says designer Bradie Fisher. “You want to invest in fewer things that are actually important.”
Designer Kathy Kuo, the founder of Kathy Kuo Home, agrees. “The concept of jumping on every viral trend for fast furniture is coming to an end,” says Kuo. Instead, it's all about decorating in the long run. “I am a great supporter of timeless, beautifully designed pieces about trendy ones that are inexpensive but not well done,” Kuo continues. “It is not sustainable to refresh your living room every time a new aesthetics circled with the word” core “at the end of IT CIRCLES.”
Rely exclusively on “the big light”
No living room is complete without a layer lighting scheme – you know how averse will everyone will switch on the overhead light. Therefore, the more light layers you can integrate into a living room, the better, the better, Monica Guarnaschelli, designer in the Indigo Maven interior design studio. “We make soft wall lights, integrated LEDs in built -in and accent lighting that are tailored to fireplaces and art collections,” she says.
About sting shelves
A well -designed bookshelf is never a bad thing, but there is no need to make your excessively curated. “The hyper -taste open shelf with books that nobody reads without meaning?” says designer Rachel Blindauer. “It looks increasingly invented. People want less, better things – and space to breathe. Intentionality replaces performative styling.”

What replaces some of the outdated paths that were decorated in detail above? These two trends will appear more and more. So read on to be ahead of the design curve.
Unexpected paint pairings
While you accept bold colors and playful patterns, you don't have to shy away from unexpected pairings, says Miller. “Color is back and strong combos like ocher with powder blue or deep navy with blushing and rust are energetic rooms,” she says.
Designer Andrea Schumacher was also attracted to “color combinations that you cannot find in a catalog”. She explains: “I mixed things like lavender with mustard or oxblood with teal – it's about creating rooms that surprise you a little but still feel deeply comfortable.”
Gaming table
Why go out when you can organize friends at home for an evening? “We see that the Mahjong movement is on the way to furniture inquiries and the customers ask to include a special gaming table in their floor plans,” explains Guarnaschelli.
However, the simple folding card table, which you may not have been expelled in recent years, adds it, and notices that fancier pieces are the last anger these days. “We now have showpiece play tables in Luxe Burl, Shagreen and Lack surfaces,” she says.
