How you dress yourself and how you dress your house are mostly from various design worlds. An increasing number of leading interior designers, however, apply an approach to fashion on your plans – and this is never more obvious than the way we style our bedrooms.
Fashion is full of rules that many people often do not know – but still enjoy unconsciously. The way in which slim and voluminous shapes combine, the lines that are formed by hems and tailors and the legs look longer; The visual weight that has large prints, patterns and strips on a small frame.
Interior designers are looking for these clues – conditions, lines, finish, material – and use them to create a look, which means that our bedrooms can be cut and measured as well as our sharpest suits – with equally appealing effects. And as with fashion, the adaptation rooms are connected with their own guidelines (and some products are perfect for this, as in our new one unveiled Tailor -made bedroom Capsule collection).

Rule 1. Prioritize structure and refinement
The structure and refinement of the bedroom layout is the key to the tailor -made look. Furniture should look as if they fit strongly, with the role that she always plays in advance in the further room.
Start with a line -controlled and sharp (instead of soft and flexible) approach for the selection and positioning of important design elements. Parts should not all scream at the same time, and nothing should be unnecessary.
The careful balance of the individual pieces is of crucial importance, and the contrast should be limited to one or two key moments, as Verity Woolf, interior designer and founder of Woolf Interior Architecture & Design, explains. 'This could be a tailor -made headboard, a sculptural trailer light or a monolithic bedside tables in stone or varnish. These interventions should wear material and visually weight and at the same time maintain total harmony. '
Rule 2. Balance with strong lines
It is this balance between the different effects of bedroom elements that are of crucial importance for a structured, precise arrangement. In appearance, everything revolves around strong architectural lines and structured upholstery.
Designers such as Christian Bensse and Linda Boronkay have an eye for the tailor-made detail in their rooms, with leather boundaries, head parts that are carefully proportioned on the wall, and a sophisticated, intelligent finish everything structured, anything but soft.
Rule 3. Edit ruthlessly
Come is as much about what you take out like what you leave – so ruthless processing here is important. Leave space to ensure that the details can be estimated and remove everything that creates visual noise. The strength of the appearance comes from the discipline.
Rule 4. Working with a pallet under consideration
Carefully arranged elements with sharp lines and everything that complements each other is the premise. But it is just part of the tailor -made bedroom look. As in all aspects of design, color and pattern are critical.
Colors in tailor -made bedrooms borrow from fashion tones – colors that feel casual, such as charcoal, ecru, marine and tobacco. These bedroom colors are not designed for screaming, but are designed in such a way that they create a relaxing, harmonious and sophisticated effect. It is not impossible to bring an accent (for example with a chair), but visual noise should be minimized – this is more important in the bedroom than any other room in the house.

Rule 5. Control the patterns
The same applies to patterns. How Kit Kemp (who is responsible for some of our most popular bedroom designs in her role as Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels) if you speak through your approach to combining patterns and prints. “I will only use a big repetition, a small repetition and possibly a smaller geometry, otherwise it will not be a relaxing experience.”
Rule 6. Keep the ordinary and details sharp
Delight is of course of crucial importance for the tailor -made bedroom look. So make sure that the storage of the bedroom is slim, unnoticed and plentiful. Control and refinement also apply to the fabrics – pipes, crisp wrinkles, never chaotic. The details are just as important – handles in an aged brass or sewn leather can give sophistication, similar to cuff buttons on a shirt. Pipes are the key – the impression of things that are perfectly shaped and finished.
Rule 7. Shift lighting with intention
The bedroom lighting should be a mixture of structure and softness, whereby either a statement trailer or sculptural wall lights are balanced by lamps on a low level to soften the edges. The game between shape and atmosphere is important to keep the scheme sharp but comfortably.

Rule 8. Think of a new approach, not trend hopping
While the adaptation of bedrooms gives a refined look in the boutique hotel style, it is not about signaling a new design trend. The tailoring has been around for centuries, and the use of its principles on interiors signals a new way of thinking about how we approach design. It is not difficult to see why it becomes the new language of bedroom design.
