8 kitchen trends you'll see everywhere in 2025, according to designers

Well, it's hard to believe, but before you know it, it's already the New Year. If you're someone who regularly updates your home to reflect current design trends, you may feel this way Only introduced some trends for 2024 not long ago. While classic decor and your personal style will always be timeless, if you're looking for something fresh for your space, be sure to learn about designers' 2025 trend predictions.

“Keeping up with kitchen design trends helps homeowners and designers embrace innovation and personalization at the heart of the home,” says Kerrie Kelly, CEO of Kerrie Kelly Studio and creative director of Fabuwood Cabinetry. “Trends reflect changing lifestyles, new technologies and environmental priorities, ensuring that kitchens are not only beautiful, but also functional and sustainable.”

Katie Wozniak, principal of KED Interiors, points out that you can enhance your own spaces by keeping an eye on how other chefs use their spaces. “A well-designed kitchen will enhance every aspect of cooking, living, entertaining and, of course, eating,” she says. And you don't have to go all out when it comes to the latest and greatest trends. Gabriela Eisenhart, founder and lead designer of Silo Studios, believes in finding a balance between being current and designing a kitchen that feels timeless.

I spoke to these three interior designers about their predictions for 2025 kitchen trends, and there was definitely a big overarching theme – here's what they had to say about the upcoming trends in 2025:

1. Soft, bold colors

The soft, muted tones that defined color trends in 2024 are still here in 2025, but with a touch of boldness. Kelly says that soft and bold colors like sage green, dusty pink and rich, earthy browns work beautifully with organic textures like stone and wood. “These colors convey a sense of calm while remaining sophisticated and contemporary, making the kitchen feel warm and inviting,” she says.

2. Interesting lighting

Designers have been focusing more and more on kitchen lighting in recent years, and as Wozniak notes, unique lighting is now making its way into the kitchen. She says things like “interesting glass, colored glass, thick metals, and even natural materials like rope and fabric” will be seen in kitchens (and beyond) in 2025.

“In the past, people would just install can lights and look no further,” she says. “Now we see that lighting is a real way to add personality to the home. Look for more interesting textures, shapes and details in lighting in the coming year.”

3. Multi-zone kitchens

Kelly says multifunctional layouts are becoming more of a focus in kitchens. This means that kitchens are equipped with different zones for cooking, entertaining, working and even relaxing. “Homeowners want versatile spaces that seamlessly combine these functions and support everything from food preparation to social gatherings to remote work,” she says. The more functional the room, the better!

4. Warm wood

It's no secret that white kitchens have become more prevalent in recent years, but Wozniak is excited to use warm and painted wood again in her kitchen projects. “There is also a return to more traditional details in furniture,” she says. “It gives a room a feeling of comfort, warmth and togetherness, and we love a cozy kitchen.”

5. Statement backsplashes

“While classic subway tiles will always have their place, 2025 is trending toward backsplashes with a little more character—think textured tiles, metallic accents, or intricate patterns that serve as a focal point,” shares Kelly. “These backsplashes allow homeowners to express their personality and add a craftsman feel to the space.” Check out these brilliant backsplash ideas to add more color and texture to your home.

6. Mixed metals

Even in 2025, the idea of deliberately combining metals inappropriately will continue to exist. Gone are the days of combining brass with brass or polished nickel with polished nickel. And the metals themselves also tend in a different direction.

“We’re moving from stark matte black and bright gold to softer metals like unpainted brass, oil-rubbed bronze and polished nickel,” says Eisenhart. “The conscious mixing of metals gives kitchens depth and an individual, timeless flair.”

7. Natural stone materials

While man-made options — like quartz countertops or backsplashes — dominated kitchens in previous years, in 2025, Eisenhart says people will instead bring natural stone options like marble, quartzite and soapstone into their kitchens for an even more earthy look.

8. “Second” kitchens

Of course, this depends on the space available in your home. Even if your kitchen is a little larger, you may still have needs that aren't being met—enter the “second kitchen,” as Wozniak calls it. This could be a butler's pantry, which will expand in both size and functionality in 2025, she notes; It could be an area away from an open kitchen where you can hide clutter and do daily tasks a little more behind the scenes.

“Smoothie making, toaster, coffee bar and more move into the second kitchen, allowing your main space to be used for entertaining, relaxing and dining,” she says. Basically, the more hidden, the better.
