What design trends see Filipino designers in 2025?

What important design trends do you see for 2025?

In 2025 I predict a significant shift to celebrate and integrate second-hand, antique and vintage articles into home culture. In view of the omnipresence of mass producers that are available on platforms such as Temu or Shopee, there is a growing wish among people to differ from more sensible acquisitions. People relate from available, trendy objects and go to collect parts with history or rarity. This trend reflects a broader social change in which individuals want to leave the planet a positive trace. There is a fatigue with the culture of availability; Instead, there is a step towards a deliberate curation of personal spaces. By surrounding themselves with objects that exist, people hope to promote resilience and longevity in their own lives, even in the middle of the challenges that the year brings.

How did sustainability influence interior design and architecture in 2024?

In our projects we only use tailor-made pieces made of natural materials such as steel and, if possible, FSC-certified wood. This year we started to obtain 100 percent recycled background images and fabrics made of repurposed paper or pet for our designs. In addition, we work with lighting consultants to implement solutions with low -energy skill knowledge that improve aesthetic attraction and support circadian rhythms and ensure energy efficiency and well -being.

How did technology and the smart home change your design aesthetics?

With regard to the lighting, we have moved for the implementation of automated scene settings, a practice that we originally developed for hospitality, and are now applying in luxury living projects. Customers are increasingly asking automated windows and climate control systems. In some of our projects we have integrated solar modules that enable us to monitor energy consumption all year round. Most of these functions are accessible via smartphone or tablet apps. We see a future in which innovative home technology becomes a norm rather than a novelty that is seamlessly integrated because all of these technologies are easily available.

How will you integrate Pantone's color of the year in 2025 into your designs?

Mokka is a versatile color that can be used in minimalist and luxurious environments depending on the depth and wealth you want to apply. However, for our projects we do not rely on our color selections on trends. We want to create permanent designs, so that our selection of colors and patterns are more likely to be determined on the conceptual narrative of the project than on the color of the year. Mokka could serve as a basic color in our designs and support the general aesthetics and history that we try to tell.

What new projects do you look forward to starting in 2025?

In 2025 we look forward to completing several restaurant projects in Manila, including Celera from the chefs Nicco Santos and Quenee Vilar and a new La Chinesca company in BGC with chef Bruce Ricketts and restaurateurs Jae Pickrell. In addition, we start building various residential projects in Manila and Hong Kong.
