Port Angeles – The Port Angeles City employees have developed a work plan over the next two years that defines projects and measurable milestones.
The plan describes the steps that the city will perform to achieve goals, as shown in the strategic plan 2025-2026.
According to the draft of the work plan, it will also serve as a communication tool between the city's employees, the city council and the rest of the community and “offer transparency for department projects, their goals and the way in which every initiative contributes to the goals of the council”.
Each of the 81 projects in the work plan are bound to an element of the city's two -year strategy plan, which was taken over in October 2024.
The strategic plan describes the city's vision and goals. This version of the plan focuses on the resilience of the community, the city -wide resource optimization, the development of apartments and infrastructures, maintenance and connectivity.
“We withdraw everything to the strategic plan,” city manager Nathan West told the Council on Tuesday.
In accordance with the resilience of the community, the city plans to work for the environmental protection of the Elwha water sheath by meeting with the Foreign Ministry of Natural Resources, the Commissioner of the Public Land, Dave Uthebrove and the legislator from the 24th legislative district.
The city also plans to support the Senate Bill 5285 and its companion House Bill 1436, which would enable a single -seam of 1 percent sales tax for law enforcement authorities or public security.
If this is adopted, the measure could bring 600,000 US dollars to the city every year according to the work plan document.
There are a total of 46 projects for the resistance of the community.
The city also plans to continue to offer the City Shade Street Tree program and to build a committed area for the house and the growth of the trees.
The focus area of the city -wide resource optimization identifies 20 projects, e.g. B. the improvement of the discount program with low income.
It also contains steps for the implementation of a more direct path on the Tumwasser truck route and not for the current connection between the US Highway 101 and the State Highway 117. This would reduce the number of freight cars that are in the empty sign on Port Angeles' “Main Street” and enable the city center to grow according to the work plan.
The city also aims to look for a secondary water source to reduce the dependence on Rainey Bohrloch on the Elwha River, which is currently the only water source in the city.
Living space is another identified priority area with six projects. In addition to the completion of the city's comprehensive plan and its housing action plan, the city is working on a pilot project for apartment buildings.
The work plan also identifies the implementation of a basic cost fee for free apartments, although the recent letter from the construction and deactivation letter in Washington is the Washington's association.
According to the draft work plan, phase two of this project includes charging properties that are not connected to the basic rate with supply companies. This will probably be implemented in September.
The area of infrastructure development, maintenance and connectivity focus identifies nine projects.
In addition to the construction of the A -Straßen basin and the renovation of the main parts of the sewage system of the city, the city works on a possible ranging path.
One possible option is the expansion of Vern Samuelson Trail in cooperation with Clallam County.
The work plan is a living document that can be changed if necessary, West.
