The science and art of lighting will be in the spotlight in this year's design Inn Symposium and leading experts have a committed master class on this topic.
This master class is organized by Liam Petrie Allbutt, founder and managing director of Design League Collective Studio, a visionary interior design director, a first-class lighting design manager, a specialist for state-of-the-art checks and an owner of the wealth value that invests in the creation of unusual rooms.

“Beyond CRI, Lux and Automation, we will examine how lighting delivers both design excellence and commercial ROI,” says Petrie Allbutt.
Register for Design Inn Symposium, Tuesday, May 6th in Hilton Adelaide.
The master class will cover three essential principles of light science: CRI (color rendering index) and how it influences the visual clarity of rooms; CCT (correlated color temperature) and color correction; as well as lux and lumens and their role in lighting and perception.
These considerations for lighting are examined in various environments, including bars, restaurants and hotels.
Take a look at the 2025 Design Inn program here.
Discussion participants will discuss the effects of the climate on lighting design. The role of restaurant lighting in ambience, decorative lighting, food resolution and general feeling; as well as the hotel experience from the lobby to lifting, corridors and guest rooms that integrate the lighting with interior design.

This session is also examined:
Bridging of light sciences and experience in the real world implementation of light sciences in practical applications during concept design and execution.
Understanding of the life cycle of lighting in design – from the conceptual “painting with light” to the final execution and how specific deviations in specification influence mood, feeling and experience.
Improvement of the built environment through light – how light design increases architecture and user experience and simultaneously simplifies the control elements and reaches ESG goals.
