When she and her husband bought her family's house in Dallas a few years ago, designer Lisa Henderson knew exactly what she wanted for the house. “I wanted it to be very happy, family -friendly, nothing trendy … and full of life,” she explains.
This vision stretched to the shared bathroom of her children on the upper floor (see below). “I really wanted to be a little fun,” she says. “I found this paper [‘Pet Portrait Gallery’ by artist Carly Beck for Wallshoppe]And I thought I didn't even need a rehearsal. That is perfect. I love it. That's exactly what I was looking for. ”

Although she will recognize that this certain pressure tickles the chic of all tickles, the prioritization of statements like this is a decorative steps that the designer often calls in the houses of her customers. “I try to steer people in the direction of something like that instead of playing it too safe,” she says. “I try to tell you that this is not the last decision you will ever make. We can get a little brave and a little crazy.”
How to keep it timeless
But of course she quickly notices that it is only about balance. Although the striped wallpaper is peppered with bizarre illustrations, Henderson chose simple, traditional selection and surfaces for the foundation of the bathroom, including glossy white U -Bahn tiles for the shower and the lower half of the walls and penny tiles for the soil.
This is her secret to get the selection of Zanier patterns up and running. “If you tire of this paper in five years, it is literally three wallpaper roles,” she says. “The construction of the bathroom does not change if you have taken this paper away … it's a clean slate.”
So continue and hug the wild wallpaper, even if you are not convinced that you will love it forever. Just choose timeless tiles and devices to take part.
