You can live in a bubble – or you can live in a cool bubble.
A striking house in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is on the market for $ 1.9 million.
The recently listed distribution in the eclectic city gave intensive reactions online after it had been shared by the Zillow Gone Gone Gone Gone social media account. The commentators compared the appearances with a wasp nest, an egg carton and even baked goods.
“Looks like a lot of cinnamon rolls!” wrote an observer.
“Nothing bundle House,” joked another commentator.
“Looks like a mushroom colony”, another interfered. “If Kalamazoo had a tornado, would this house become stirring?” Asked a commentator.
The story behind the monolithic dome is almost as unexpected as its outer. Listing Agent Fred Taber from Jaqua Realors told the post about the origins of the Circa-1977-Haus.
While Kalamazoo has an impressive selection of Art -Deco and Modernist Residences, which were designed by famous architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Norman Carver Jr., this house is in its own league.
“What makes this even better is that this is not designed by a famous architect or even remote known architect,” said Taber.
Instead, the spherical place of residence with this help of an architect friend by an orthodontist named Dr. Luther Bruce designed.
The 1.9 million dollar list advertises “privacy, energy efficiency and timeless style”. Its stone, plaster and wooden interior extends over more than 6,000 square meters.
Despite its forested location, the house can see passers -by, said Taber and made it a local celebrity.
“People can see it on the street, and because it is so unique, they have a lot of people into the entrance to take photos,” he said.
The local nicknames of the house range from “The Boba Tea House” to “The Onion House”, said Taber, depending on who you ask.
The current owners, said Taber, lived on their place of residence in 1991 and carried out extensive renovation work inside and outside. The upgrades included new decks, additional land and a special metal roof to protect the cement and foam facade. The roof was tailored to Texas, said Taber and cost the owners more than $ 400,000.
The approximately 1,000 square meters of couplings create “a wonderful river” through the house, said Taber. The dome in the middle of the cluster is completely occupied by the massive primary bedroom.
Despite the high ceilings, the unique insulation and the geothermal heating of the house keeps warm and cozy and comfortable all year round like a freshly baked amount of cinnamon rolls
