Stars of the HGTV reality shows see everything when it comes to home decoration -so you know better than any other if there is a trend for interior design that officially slides from the “Cool” category into the “outdated” category. No wonder that designers don't just share some of their favorite tips and tricks when they see that a trend loses its shine. Jenn Todryk, the moderator of the show “No Demo Reno”, said the three, which they see in one of the episodes of the second season.
First she wants to say goodbye to kitchens that combine dark counters with shiny hardware. Next are on your list of beige bathroom – why not revitalize the place with a little color and depth? Finally, she suggests blowing the bedroom, which thanks to outdated elements like stucco walls feel more like a dormitory than an adult oasis.
The good news for someone with these not such trendy trends in your house? Todryk also knows better than anyone else that sometimes a big change is easier than you can see. On “No Demo Reno” she specializes in overhaul without greater demolition. In addition to knowing that these design fashion symptoms have to go, it also offers some brilliant solutions to make rooms more funnier, inviting and more modern.

Goodbye, shiny hardware and dark worktops

Since your kitchen is a place where you create meals and parts – often with beloved people and guests – it is one of the most important rooms to feel fresh and inviting. That is why Jenn Todryk avoids shiny kitchen hardware at all costs. For them, objects such as shiny gold drawer handles and shiny cabinet buttons are just a few of the dated kitchen hardware trends that come out.
The shiny buttons can feel particularly in fashion when combined with dark worktops. Black worktops in materials such as Corian and Granite were very popular from the 1980s, and the trend continued until the 2000s. In recent times, however, designers have been interested in lighter colors such as white, beige and gray.
In the episode “No Demo Reno”, Todryk works with the home owners who know that their kitchen needs a new reset but wants to keep their light cupboards. It replaces the hardware with pieces in a brushed brass and keeps it in a similar color scheme, but the gloss minimizes a more demanding, modern look. It also exchanges the dark worktops for lighter ones, makes them better with the light -cutting and gives the entire room a more open, open feeling.
No more beige bathroom

Next, Jenn Toodryk goes into a bathroom by Jack and Jill in a boring beige. Another problem with the room? It had not been updated to accommodate the family's growing children. The bathtub may have been great if they were small, but one of the first movements of Todryk is to exchange them for a closed walk -in shower that they can use in the coming years.
In addition to the creation of a bathroom that is more suitable for older children, she also wanted to drop his monotonous, outdated beige color scheme. In the entire room it replaces cream -colored fittings and tiles with white, gray tones and blacks. These are easy to clean and can look less grubby than beige. In addition, the darker colors fit the overall goal to keep this a bathroom that can grow with the boys – with a sophisticated and neutral backdrop as the basis, they will always be able to give workshops, colorful towels or thematic frills in order to give the bathroom a little pizazz.
A much deserved refreshment of the main bedroom

While Jenn Todryk worked on a Reno-Reno-Reno with another couple, he wanted to make sure that her main bedroom deserves the renovation and noticed that many parents repaired other places in the house before concentrating on their own space. This can feel your room more like a dormitory than a quiet room for tired parents. Their first task is to update the walls that have been structured and stubborn. Stuck in particular has fallen out of favor in many regions, partly because it absorbs a lot of moisture. As a result, older houses can go out or feel a bit commercial.
Instead of undergoing an expensive wall overhaul, Todryk nanges the rough walls and the ceiling until they are smooth, which makes them appear more sophisticated. It also adds the trim in the board-and-Batte style to give the room more character and plays around with paint paint. By making the clothing cabinet doors a suitable accent color, it brings a trendy vitality into a blunt space so far.
Finally, she suggests replacing the furniture you collected. Before that, it was a mixture of hand-me-down parts that didn't fit anywhere else into the apartment, which contributed to the dormitory feeling. By exchanging them with a new bed frame, bedside table and suitable bed linen, she can give the parents the oasis that they earn after a hard day.
