The General of the Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transport (Ditjen Hubud Kemenhub) supports the optimization of the operation of the Dhoho Kediri airport as an alternative to recovering services to strengthen connectivity and to optimize flights in East Java (East Java).
The General Director of the Civil Aviation (Dirjen Hubud) from the Ministry of Transport Lukman F Laisa said that his party discussed this when he received an audience with the deputy governor of East Java Emil Elestiathanto Dardak.
“In our meeting, the strengthening of flight connectivity in the Eastern region was discussed, in particular the operational optimization plan of the Airport Dhoho von Kediri as an alternative to Rah -flight services and other main tags of the airport in the province,” said Lukman in a statement in Jakarta, which was cited by Antara on August 2.
As a regulatory authority, the Hubud General Directorate welcomed the initiative of the provincial government of the East Java government to maximize the potential of Dhoho Airport.
According to him, this step is strategically centered in the distribution of the operating costs of flights, which are currently still centered at Juanda Airport, Surabaya.
Juanda Airport, said Lukman, currently serves around 14 million passengers per year of a maximum capacity of 21 million passengers. After an assessment, the increase in Juanda capacity only enables up to 27 million passengers.
“This means that from now on we have to be prepared to find and build new air nodes to expect future growth,” said Lukman.
The general director added that DHOHO Airport is designed in such a way that it serves wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 777-300 and Airbus A380 and has modern technical facilities and specifications and meets international standards.
This opens up great opportunities to become an alternative airport for the departure of Rahe pilgrims and domestic connectivity centers in the southern region of East Java.
The Ministry of Transport evaluates that DHOHO Airport is very sufficient in relation to the infrastructure. Before fully operated for Rahe flights, however, it is necessary that all aspects of security (security), security, services (services) and compliance with the regulations are met.
“It is our responsibility as supervisory authorities,” said Lukman.
In the near future, Lukman said again, the Hubud General Directorate together with the provincial government of the East Java province and the airport operator will gradually test tests and evaluation of the operational willingness of the DHOHO airport.
“The future plan for DHOHO Airport will serve updated flights that are planned 3-4 times a month. Therefore, maximum operational readiness and facilities are required,” he said again.
In addition, Lukman emphasized that the development of air connectivity in East Java does not only depend on Juanda and Dhoho's airports.
Other airports such as Abdul Rachman Saleh (Malang), Blimbingsari (Banyuwangi) and TrunoJoyo (Sumenep) must also be optimized as part of an integrated flight system.
“The increase in capacity and function of the airport in East Java must be seen in the context of the national air traffic system,” said Lukman again.
The Ministry of Transport is obliged to support all regional efforts to expand flight accessibility as long as it remains in the corridor of strict regulations.
“This step is part of the national agenda for a fair development of air traffic and more integrative public services,” said Lukman.
