The Fab Five are back with the highly anticipated season 9 of Queer eye welcomes a new face, none other than Jeremiah Brent, who replaced Bobby Burke as interior designer on the show.
As we delve into the new series (make sure you have tissues handy), we thought we'd look back at one of our favorite rooms in Jeremiah Brent and his (also interior designer) husband Nate Berkus' New York home.
Nate and Jeremiah have taken their kitchen ideas from old-fashioned and dark to sophisticated and light-filled, creating a truly stunning oasis and welcoming centerpiece of the home. The redesigned, ultra-chic kitchen features light-washed herringbone floors, black and white marble countertops, and statement-making modern light fixtures—but the real star of the show is its standout kitchen island.
Interior designers love the design of the power couple's marble kitchen ideas.
Tyler Del Vento, founder and principal designer of TDV Design, says, “The marble island in Nate and Jeremiah's kitchen is the anchor piece that adds drama, style and WOW moments to this beautiful space!”
Interior designer Tyler Del Vento is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and has worked as a designer in Paris and New York for many years. Tyler is known for her ability to combine statement pieces with functional furniture to create eye-catching designs.
She continues with the design of the kitchen island: “The details – the scalloped corners that match the edges of the tall backsplash, the double-layered worktop and the skirting – are all stunning.”
Soledad Alzaga, a San Francisco-based interior designer, also says, “Nate and Jeremiah's kitchen is grounded by the heavy island.” The marble base and top coordinate with the rest of the countertops and backsplash, creating a cohesive and unified look. “They added beautiful details to the edge and base of the island, showing it was custom-made and unique.”
San Francisco-based interior designer Soledad Alzaga has worked on design projects in San Francisco, Sonoma, Atherton, New York, Martha's Vineyard, Los Angeles, Mexico and Argentina. Her company was named one of the top 15 interior design firms in San Francisco.
Designers also love how the island ties in with the marble details throughout the rest of Nate and Jeremiah's room.
“Marble is timeless and elegant, its use in this kitchen with the beautifully refinished parquet flooring adds warmth, texture and personality.” “Wearing just one material throughout the room makes this kitchen sophisticated and chic,” says Soledad.
Tyler adds, “Using the same stone for the kitchen countertop, backsplash and kitchen island ties everything together beautifully and in a subtly glamorous way.”
