Welcome! Do you need a small guide when it comes to designing your veranda? With so many options, it can certainly be discouraging! Fortunately, we spoke to designer Emily Anderson from O'Hara Interiors with its headquarters in Minneapolis to increase their curb with some “Donts” decoration before the veranda, plus a few of their own information.
You use too much white
“The purely white trend has started to go out both within and outside of houses,” says Anderson. Good! Because the maintenance is difficult. For floor coverings, it likes neutral colors such as medium brown. (Note: Go too light or dark, and the footprints are obvious.) For furniture, teak and metal, durable children's games are.
You have inadequate lighting
A shady entrance takes her veranda from charming to chilling. To remedy this, flank the front door with lights, hang a lamp over the entrance or place standing lanterns on both sides of the welcome mat, says Anderson. “Outside lighting is like jewelry for your home,” she adds. It increases the whole look.
They hug no planters
Adding planters of different sizes into their steps and around your veranda offers the space and the possibility to add seasonal color. Cluster of similar styles of different planters together, so that their groups look organic.
You overdo it with kitsch
The holiday decor is great at the moment, but the rest of the year is based on the season. In autumn, Anderson recommends tensioning their veranda with plants or textiles in rich, earthy tones such as burned orange, mustard and chestnut brown. “Halloween is only one night of the year,” she says. “Autumn takes a few months.”
You have too much things
If things look overcrowded, it may be time to edit their verandam furniture and accessories. This room should have some space for breath and still feel comfortable and comfortable. The scale can also be a problem – take into account the size of your veranda and try to get pieces of appropriate size that fit comfortably without much too big or miniatures. Outside ceiling and additional pillows can be stored inside if they are not required.
