Drew Scott from HGTV understands real estate. He is not just a licensed broker, but as a half of the “The Property Brothers” he saw and worked many houses. When Scott was asked about his brother Jonathan Scott after some ordinary DOS and not house improvements, he had a lot to say. An article he was asked for was Beadboard. It turns out that he believes that it is a design element that actually administered your home and feels outdated.
In conversation with HGTV, Scott explained his argument by explaining: “A home can feel too much beadboard, especially when it fills an entire wall and resembles the cladding – not a good look.” It makes sense that too much of a single design element could be a bad idea, especially since Beadboard is a kind of wall paneling and too much of every cladding makes a space less modern. Beadboard has also been around for hundreds of years, which certainly contributes to the fact that it is a home. And depending on the color of the pearl board, it can be too dark for the room, or it can collapse with the rest of your decor.
Scott also explained that it is not just about how much beadboard is used in a house, but also where they use it. If you only use it as an accent or in a house where you have a more coastal or traditional look, this may not be a problem. He also mentions that he sees it a lot in bathing rooms and as a back splash in the kitchen, but he reminds people that it is actually not waterproof what it makes for the wrong choice for these rooms.

Alternatives to Beadboard and how to make your home feel more modern

While Drew Scott may not be a fan of too much beadboard in a house, there are ways that you have it worked in your own home. If you try to feel more modern, but already have Beadboard on your walls, you have the option of painting your beadboard so that it works better for you. Look at lighter colors that lighten your room or choose a splash of color so that your room feels more modern. While removing the beadboard may not be in the budget, a fresh layer of color can make a big difference in any room.
Although Scott never gives an alternative to Beadboard over the years, the real estate brothers have presented design ideas and advice that could work for a more modern appearance. Both brothers have recommended a simple upgrade in which they add a wooden plate with a wain scene to a simple wall. You can also add a chair rail at the top or make it a flat plate for a minimal look. The Scott Brothers believe in making courageous design decisions, and this includes the use of wallpapers at the point of the cladding in order to add an explanation to each wall. But if you want to keep things really easy, just add a fresh layer of paint to the walls. Think about your budget and decide what will work for your design aesthetics.
