Do you remember the Tuscan trend of the 2000s? It was so clearly and strongly used that it would come to mind immediately when we think of this decade. Now that we are in mid -2020, we can do the same with the 2010s. From Farmhouse finds to Greige and Gray, four designers spill the trends that have taken over their reception.
Gray, gray and gray
Every designer we talked to is right: gray – especially cool gray – receive go. As Melanie Bryant, founder of Melanie Bryant Interiors in Jackson, Mississippi, says: “It quickly falls flat – what people really react to is warmth, texture and layers that feel inviting at home.”
Elizabeth Burch, owner and main designer of Elizabeth Burch in Interiors in Nashville, Tennessee, recommends to exchange him for a warm white (her favorite is the Greek villa of Sherwin-Williams). You can even add a funny, contrasting trim or wallpaper to add more personality.
Farmhouse style
We love a chip and jo, but the farmhouse trend you started? Not so much. In the 2010s, all of our houses in the storm, in the barn doors, the Faux vintage signs, flat neutral and everything took. Now it's time to take you back. Nevertheless, Julie Dodson Webster, founder and creative director of Dodson Interiors in Houston, Texas, insists that you don't have to change everything at once. In fact, they shouldn't. In order to give the rooms their true personality, they should be layered over time.
Art with words
We do not need to remember that we are “blessed” or the command for “eating” in the kitchen. Instead, webster recommends to exchange art with words for “something more lively like an abstract or a landscape”. Even if you choose a pressure, it can still feel more original and will almost certainly be more visually more interesting.
Modern in the middle of the century
The problem, Bryant emphasizes, is not the aesthetics, but that “it became a standard look everywhere, regardless of the house style”. Most of the time, the inclusion of the modern wall-to-wall center of the century feels out of place, but you can still add one or two pieces to give the personality.
Catalog finds
Do you know these furniture sets that you can get from a big box furniture store or a catalog? Although they are certainly functional and some are even high quality, they are usually general and free of people. “I will always recommend mixing antiques and vintage finds that give depth and character to look a room and look dynamic,” says Webster.
All-white kitchens
White-on-white kitchens have a serious attraction for you-sie can be clean, bright and simple (both in design and in execution). They read sterile, one -dimensional and formula as well.
Rachel Peck, designer by Rachel Peck Interiors in Austin, Texas, always encourages her customers to be brave. “Find what you love and lean on all the way,” she emphasizes. “Just go a little in the way because you are afraid that you will not get the drama you are looking for.”
Graybreads
Nothing, Peck insists that the time stamps have a home more than greige vinyl plank floors. In addition, it may appear in many ways, but as soon as they are installed, you will see that it is not more communicating and lack of personality. You can't go wrong with a warm, medium -sized brown hardwood, but if you want some light, Pale Oak is the right way.
