There's something comforting and familiar about Christmas decorating, and this year the big decorating trend is all about traditional Christmas. Think '90s nostalgia and Ralph Lauren: plaid patterns, red and forest green accents, gold and brass metallics, twinkling lights and the look collected over time.
And although this trendy look can be found everywhere online, you don't need a big budget to get it. Dollar Tree's holiday department is full of items that fit the warm, classic style aesthetic. But you have to act quickly because the best finds disappear quickly.
The Best Dollar Tree Christmas Decorations of 2025
Here are my favorite traditional Christmas items that I discovered on a recent trip to my local Dollar Tree store.
Checkered dishes
If you've been wanting a variety of holiday meals, get them at Dollar Tree. These plaid dishes are adorable and there's also a set with evergreen trees that are perfect for mixing and matching.

Sculptural reindeer
These would look great in the center of the dining room table or on your mantel. And if you want to be an overachiever, spray paint them an antique brass or bronze shade to really get the traditional Christmas spirit going.

Large bottle brush trees
I am a firm believer that you can never have too many bottlebrush trees. They are one of the most versatile Christmas decorations and fit right in with Ralph Lauren's Christmas trend. These extra-large trees pair beautifully with the smaller ones that Dollar Tree also sells.

Tapestry placemats
These tapestry placemats are truly beautiful. They have considerable weight and have a metal thread running through them. I like the holly berry pattern best and picked a few of them to turn into a throw pillow cover. (Let's see if I can remember how to use the sewing machine!)

Sugared fruits
When I think of Christmas in the 90s, I think of sugared fruit. I don't know if my mom had it on display everywhere or if Martha Stewart showed us how to make sugared fruit creations, but it just fits in with a traditional Christmas. This year, Dollar Tree is offering a variety of sizes of sugared berries that are perfect for Christmas wreaths and crafts.

Large bow-topped lanterns
Simply put, these lanterns are adorable. They come in two sizes and look like gift boxes with bows at the top. This store only had the black lanterns, but I saw them in gold at another location. One advantage is that they can be used for more than just Christmas.

Of course, there were many more Christmas items than I show here, and many of them fit well with the traditional Christmas theme. Think cable knit stockings, holly greenery and ornate gold picture frames, perfect for that family vacation photo.
Dollar Tree Shopping Tips
If you're not an experienced Dollar Tree shopper, a few tips may help.
First, goods vary by location. So you may not find the same items in your store that I show in this post. But a Dollar Tree a town over might have them. So it never hurts to visit a different place every now and then.
Plus, popular items sell out quickly. If you see something you like, buy it immediately. Chances are it won't be there the next time you visit.
And finally, check out the pricing for Dollar Tree's new in-store scanner. Gone are the days when everything cost a dollar or $1.25. Some items can currently cost up to $10. Therefore, make sure you are clear about the prices before checking out.
While Dollar Tree may not be the first place you think of for a high-end Christmas decor look, it's definitely full of hidden gems that can be mixed and matched to achieve it. Remember that timing is key: once these pieces are gone, they're gone. So grab the keys and your shopping list and get there as quickly as possible. Come December 25th and you will be so glad you did!
