Choosing the perfect color palette for your home is no easy task. That's why so many people hire interior designers, right?
Every year and season brings new color trends, and while we're here for them, we don't have time for the ones that just pass by.
So if you want to decide on a color scheme for the whole house or want to buy a sofa in bold colors, And If timelessness is more important to you than fads, you might want to know which colors interior designers say are quickly losing popularity.
Of course, every year we see outdated paint colors disappear from the “most popular” list, but all of the shades on this list had an undeniable moment in 2024. But will their dominance continue into 2025? And will you still love her tomorrow? These are the colors that designers predict will quickly go out of style and color alternatives that are completely timeless.
1. Brat Green

Strong start with summer sensation – Brat Green. You may not be able to imagine the ultra-lime hue indoors, but color expert Amy Krane warns, “If you fell for the Brat Green phenomenon last year and put it on walls, please get out your paintbrush.”
“The color is highly synthetic and contrasts with the more natural direction in which colors move in decoration. Greens are generally natural colors and every version of them is trending right now except this one! If you want a chartreuse with a yellow-green, try chartreuse or a light pear green,” says Amy. Chartreuse is like Brat Green's calmer, more sophisticated sister, and purchasing decor in this playful hue is a fun way to jump on the strategic neon color trend without overwhelming your space.

2. Strong white

It seems obvious, doesn't it? When it comes to decorating with white, bold whites have been on the table for years, and if you're still toying with the hue, it's time to let go.
“We are many years past the 'all white' home, which in its first incarnation used cool or neutral white (no visible undertones) for all surfaces. While we may think of a white kitchen as timeless and classic, the nature of white has stood the test of time.” “Today, white needs to be nuanced with a touch of warmth,” says Amy.
This year it's all about warming up. “Although white is timeless, we are increasingly seeing people combining white with other colors to create a warmer look. Darker tones, rich wood finishes and vibrant accent colors are used to add contrast and dimension to the kitchen. “This change helps break away from the stark, clinical feel of an all-white space and creates a more inviting atmosphere,” says Aurora Espinoza, interior designer at nobilia North America.

3. True Gray

We've been hearing about gray being replaced by beige and other warm neutrals for a few years now, but 2024 brought a complete resurgence in decorating with gray. But is this controversial color already outdated?
Amy says, “The dated grays are very neutral grays that just appear like a mix of black and white, showing no personality or any hint of the color family they come from (i.e. no visible undertones).”
“Warm is this buzzword of the day. For example, gray tones that appear to be green tones, as well as warm tones such as mushroom colors, are absolutely trendy. “Colours with green and/or gold undertones like khaki are really on trend,” adds Amy.

4. Cherry red

Similar to the Brat Green color trend, we saw a huge influx of “unexpected red” in our interiors. Bright red accents were added either on the walls, as side tables, pillows and more. But alas, it's time to move on from that dated cherry shade to a shade with a little more sophisticated elegance.
Amy says: “If you got caught up in the 'Unexpected Red' craze last year and still want a touch of this powerful color in your home, choose a deep and muted red with brown like oxblood.”

5. Beige

Finally we come to our final fading color trend – beige overload.
Although beige interiors are still trendy (I don't think they'll ever go out of style completely), designers are looking for hues with a little more personality and warmth. “All beige rooms can often appear sterile and impersonal if not carefully curated. Adding a bold accent color or a color that complements beige can really make the room feel more personal,” says Gideon Mendelson, founder and creative director of the Mendelson Group.
Gideon adds: “I believe a more balanced approach is to use warm earth tones. Shades such as terracotta, mustard and rich browns, complemented by natural materials such as wood and stone, create a welcoming, grounded atmosphere that promotes a deeper connection to nature.”

FAQs
How do I choose a timeless color for my home?
Amy says: “My rule of thumb for most homeowners who rarely redecorate is to choose colors that you love, that express your individuality and that fit in with your other furnishings and furnishings despite current trends. However, if you're more trend-driven, pay attention to what's out there.” “Inside and what's out is fun and inspiring.” Basically, it's all about execution.
Unfortunately, not all of our favorite trends are made to last. These colors have served us well in 2024, but the new year brings exciting variations on our favorite colors. As the saying goes, when one color door closes, another opens.
