Toronto man has been charged after vandalizing a traffic light in Collingwood

A 33-year-old Toronto driver is facing charges for damaging a traffic light in the town of Collingwood.

On Friday around 11 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a cell phone accident report at the intersection of First and Pine Streets.

When officers arrived, they discovered that the central traffic light was destroyed.

The driver's blood alcohol content was reportedly two and a half times the legal limit. As a result, three separate charges of negligence were brought against him.

The man was also given a 90-day driving license suspension while his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Collingwood on February 11, 2025.
