LAFAYETTE, La. – Five Lafayette Parish schools will save money on electric bills thanks to energy-efficient upgrades made by Entergy and H & H Electric. As part of Entergy's energy efficiency program, schools received LED lighting systems that reduce energy consumption and lower operating costs. All lighting upgrade costs, including materials and labor, will be covered.
“All savings in a school’s budget go directly to instruction,” said Superintendent Francis Touchet Jr. “I am so grateful to the community partners who support LPSS because their contributions allow us to provide even more opportunities for our students. “
Project values
The project values for each school are as follows:
- Carencro Middle School: $397,747
- Green T. Lindon Elementary School: $405,346
- L. Leo Judice Elementary School: $182,083
- Milton Elementary School: $220,759
- Youngsville Middle School: $481,306
- Total LPSS score: $1,687,241
Projected annual savings
Schools are expected to realize significant savings as the LED lights will reduce electricity consumption. Projected annual savings for each school include:
- Carencro Middle School: $38,139.60
- Green T. Lindon Elementary School: $42,870.27
- L. Leo Judice Elementary School: $18,321.07
- Milton Elementary School: $20,807.40
- Youngsville Middle School: $50,001.56
- Total Projected Annual Savings: $170,139.90
