Journey Beyond has announced the first luxurious sleep suites in Australia designed by Woods Bagot.

From April 2026, the “Aurora” and “Australis” suites will be one of the legendary trains “The Ghan”, “Indian Pacific” and “Great Southern” and will be a new level of luxury trip outside of the Orient Express.

Based on the inheritance of the overland railway, the wagons refer to nostalgia and romance, which have long been connected to train trips.

The interior design includes Australian architectural motifs and living details from the handicraft movement. The premium cars are inspired by the leased 19th and early 20th century houses: a unique Australian expression of the English Edwardian house, which combines European influences with anti-Podic sensitivity

The living character and the human -friendly detailing of the wagons should create increased familiarity and cause a feeling of exclusivity and sophisticated comfort. A rich and multi -layered design is expressed through tailor -made details, decorative wooden accents, stone masonry, filigree iron and hollow ceilings, which are reminiscent of traditional cornices.

The design emphasizes authenticity, inheritance, functionality and the connection to the outback, which characterize the Australian elegance.

“'Australian luxury' is characterized by a reserved aesthetics with bukolical sensitivity and adventure lust,” says Rosina di Maria, director of Woods Bagot.

“Instead of extravagant decoration and excessive opulence, Australian luxury is characterized by calm self -confidence, quality, comfort and attention to detail.

“The interiors are characterized by a manual, tradition -oriented handling of details, careful craftsmanship and the widespread use of high -quality materials.”

The colors of the outback were professionally incorporated into the design of the new sleep suites. The Aurora draws from the heavenly sky landscape of the outback, from the shimmering lights of southern sky to the dreamlike tones of the Australian Aurora, while the Austria Suite contains a range of material inspired by the earth.

In the Aurora, mirrored surfaces, champagne steel and high -gloss surfaces play with light and transience and refer to the changing astronomical canvas of the Australian desert. Heavenly green tones of the southern lights are incorporated into emerald green quartzite and velvet padding.

As the most luxurious suite in Australian train traffic, the Australis concept relies on earth tones, rich brown and ocker tones, with stained wood and red-hedged stone.
