Wooden checks
Massive wood representatives are at the top of the list for designers when you search economy shops. Your high -quality craftsmanship simply cannot match, and chests of drawers are versatile and can be used in various areas of the house – from bedrooms and kindergartens to bathrooms, dining rooms and relaxation rooms.
“Older chests of drawers are often made of solid wood with swallowtail joints, in contrast to many modern ones who use particles,” says Beuerlein. “Solid wood can often be stained again or if the coloring is not an option, a chest of drawers can give new life in a funny, unexpected color.”
Beuerlein recommends a few pre-purchase checks when shopping for chests of drawers. This includes checking the drawer function, checking the inside of the chest of drawers for musty smells (such as mildew) and the search for signs of water damage or distortion.
Although these problems require resolved, it require more intensive repairs. So it is good to know whether you are present before leaving the business.

Rack
Designers are always looking for eating chairs in second -hand shops. According to Kendra Hagerman, CEO and owner of the budget and lifestyle blogs Kendra, Vintage Dining Chairs in particular are at the top of the list.
“Our entire set with eight feeder is economical,” she says. “Vintage chairs are often massive wood, which makes it an excellent price -performance ratio.
Even if you do not find a suitable set, vintage chairs that do not match a collected and versatile look can offer no matching vintage chairs. According to Beuerlein, individual chairs can also be used as an accent seat in bedrooms, living room and home offices.
Check them for structural problems before they are bought in a second -hand business in a used goods store. Beuerlein calls it the “Wiggle test”.
“Sitting and moving your weight-promoting or wiggling means that it has to be allowed again or structural repairs,” she says.
These problems can be quick corrections for handy do -it -yourselfers, but may not be suitable for everyone. If you hope to go from shop to the ground, make sure that the chairs you bought are structurally solid and ready before departure.
The old school desks
After Beuerlein, old switches are another valuable find. From solid wood office -writing tables to vintage kids school desk tables, secondhand shops are a great place to achieve unique desks with a lot of charm.
And how many pieces of furniture on this list are often built for the duration and made of real wood-not only as a particle like most desks today.
Side tables and bedside tables
According to Beuerlein, good side tables and bedside tables in the used goods store are also easy to score.
“These are easy to repair or paint and you can find unique silhouettes,” she says. “In addition, small tables are practical for almost every room.”
When searching the furniture bowl, remember that wood is much easier to repair than particles or wooden veneer. In this sense, Beuerlein says not to skip the section “Junk Furniture” – you never know which gemstones are hidden under poor painting.
Wooden bookshelves and huts
Bookshelves and huts have so many applications in the whole house, but it can be difficult these days to find high -quality, solid wood pieces (especially at an affordable price).
That is why designers and economical professionals are always looking for them in the second -hand shop.
“Vintage books and huts have a lot of personality and can often earn themselves as a pantry storage or display parts,” says Beuerlein. “These are ideal for offices, kitchens, children's rooms and playrooms.”
If you have found the wooden book trade or the hut of your dreams, always make sure you measure it before you leave the shop. It can be difficult to assess exactly how big something is and how it fits in your room.
The last thing you want is to bring it home and realize that it is too big or too small for your home, says Beuerlein.
Vintage chair
Finally, the professionals say not to sleep on the stool section.
“One of my favorite opportunities for economy are vintage chairs,” says Hagerman. “Upholstered, fragrant, milking stool, foot stops – I have made them all. I love buying them because they are usually not used every day, which means that they are often in good condition.”
Even if they are a little worn, this contributes to their charm, especially in the interior in rustic and household style.
