Embedded in the quiet area of Xiapu, Ningde City, Province of Fujian – where the East China Sea meets the robust coast, a remarkable architectural project has been created. The Blue Insight Cave Space, part of the Ningde “Zero Carbon Island” initiative, is an innovative creation that redefines public spaces. This immersive underground structure was designed by 3andwich design in cooperation with Hewei Studio and transforms a simple visual platform into a room that connects deep with the country and the sea.
The core principles of the Blue Insight Cave Space, “precipitation, covering and integration”, form the physical structure so that it almost disappears into its natural environment. The architect team has inspired the sea caves and coastal reefs that define the region and produced a design that seamlessly merges with the landscape.
The design sees the project discreetly hidden under the surface, hidden from a comprehensive view of the ocean. The building is so invisible that it dominates the sea without dominating it, and mixes into the earth to minimize its environmental impact.

One of the outstanding features of the Blue Insight cave space is its organic, underground design. By sunk the building into the ground, they have created a room that is almost not perceptible from above. This approach not only respects the natural environment, but also improves sustainability and uses the natural isolation of the earth to maintain a constant internal temperature. As a result, the need for energy -intensive cooling systems is significantly reduced.
The entrance to the Blue Insight cave is a striking semicircular passage that gently rises from the earth on the west side of the roof. Visitors enter the room and enter a series of interconnected “caves” rooms, each offering a unique perspective of the landscape and creating a series of rooms for different activities. Similar to the natural sea caves that inspired it, the building offers a dramatic feeling for scales and intimacy and transforms the journey through the space into an experience that deepens the connection of the visitor to the environment.

The Blue Insight Cave Space serves as a dynamic place for cultural events, exhibitions and meetings and offers both locals and tourists a place where they deal with art, culture and the surrounding landscape. His distinctive design and immersive experience make it a unique cultural center.
The room also offers catering services and offers a new and versatile environment for various activities. With its seamless integration into the landscape, the Blue Insight cave room offers a sensory experience that improves the connection between humans and nature.
