From the architect: “The original structure on site was lovingly known as” Cake House “. Its sharp, triangular shape provided the coast of Mollymook with an icon and a way to find surfers. Respect and upgrade of this iconic form became the overarching concept for the project. In addition, hell with high implementation of storms were secured.
“The underlying design principle was to prioritize resource efficiency by reusing and celebrating materials to live a local icon for the next generation. People without overcrowding.
“The Cake House was upgraded to include passive house energy principles such as high insulation, no thermal bridges, infiltration with low air, high-performance glazing and a heat recovery ventilation system. In the end it was interpreted for operation as a passive mixed fashion beach shack The roof of the kite was sharpened and sails slightly over the interiors.
