Kwikset has added a new bright product to its portfolio this week with the availability of the Halifax LED Lever.
A look at the Halifax's key features
Kwikset explains that the Halifax LED lever has a built-in LED light that illuminates the handle when motion is detected, making it easier to find in the dark. A built-in motion sensor activates the light when motion is detected within 10 feet, based on a room brightness of one lux and an angle of 108 degrees.
To save energy, the light turns off after seven seconds of no movement. The 4000K LED light emits a natural white light and is powered by a single AAA battery.
Kwikset recommends that the LED lever provides at least eight months of reliable performance based on an average of 20 activations per day. The battery is easily replaceable to ensure consistent functionality.
Additionally, the lever features Microban antimicrobial product protection, helping to keep the surface 99.9% cleaner than unprotected hardware.
A unique place for a night light
Despite the immediate notion that the Halifax might be useful for finding keys in the dark, Kwikset is quick to point out the device's function as an indoor handle, as it's available in “privacy” and “passage” features.
Designed for bedrooms and bathrooms, the privacy option includes a push button lock with emergency release tool. The passage option, suitable for hallways and cupboards, enables free operation from both sides.
Kwikset notes that this indoor placement makes it a solution for lighting during power outages, in dimly lit rooms, or in children's rooms. It also provides a useful solution for older residents trying to navigate the house at night.
It can also be used for short-term rental properties to provide guests with a safe and intuitive way to navigate unfamiliar spaces. The lever fits standard doors and has an adjustable backset to accommodate different door sizes.
The design is contemporary and suits modern interiors
According to the company, the lever's design includes a sleek square rosette that adds a modern touch to any interior. It also features Kwikset's exclusive proprietary chassis with dual compression springs that keep the lever straight and wobble-free throughout its life.
The lever is also fully reversible and can be mounted on both right- and left-handed doors.
Available in a matte black finish, the Halifax LED lever is part of Kwikset's Signature Series and meets ANSI/BHMA Class AAA certification for safety, durability and workmanship.
