In the car of an apartment crisis, a little imagination and skills can take a long way, as has happened in YouGhal, County Cork, where an office unit on the ground floor has received a new identity on the ground floor.

All of this was made possible by the vision and imagination of the interior designer and stylist Catherine O'Flynn and her strong cooperation with her client. “There are such advantages to live in the city, see neighbors and go to the shops.”

The finished home is something inspiring and far from the dark, soulless office space, the storage room and the plant room for the entire building that Catherine found on your first visit.

The lack of space outdoors can be repulsive with commercial property, she points out that it successfully opens the back wall to add windows and a terrace door and to create a low -maintenance terrace that later has a free -standing increased platform to gain access to sea views.

Below the planters border on a terrace that catches the western sun, but it is where the design magic really happened, and a spacious open kitchen from the open level, food and living room that flows from back to the house. A committed bedroom, a main bath and a supply room.

Under many outstanding design features, Light Planning Testament carries for the value of adjusting someone who knows how to maximize the light and see the placement of space as more than furniture placement. “We used the open plan with lighting trailers across the dining area and the kitchen island and inserted an LED strip into the ceiling in the living area, says Catherine.” The bedrooms are similar with wall lights for reading.

“The client really wanted a bedroom suite, so she has her bedroom, a large bathroom and a walk-in dressing area. Another customer wanted to use the space to create more bedrooms because the footprint of the property is closer to a house with three or four bedrooms, but the bedroom suite was really important to her.”

There are also built -in wardrobes with a subtle surface that resembles linen. It adds the concept of texture, a topic that Catherine has introduced throughout. “The customer's order was for a coastal look that we made with a blue and white color scheme, but she also wanted glamor. Instead of the usual cottons, we used a number of textures in carpets, upholstery and pillow.”

Sandy tones are also open in the laminate floors in the open area open, detailed in art and wood, as well as a button heat in brass images, light switches and accessories. In what could have been the almost sterile contrast of blue and white, Catherine expanded the color theme and added various blue, blue-green and green tones.

The effect is relaxing, fresh and clean, but also warm and inviting.

A deviation from the color topic, however, is the supply room in which units in which devices in the apartment are kept in the same design as the kitchen, but the customer decided to end them in Farrow & Ball's smile space for a female touch.

Storage is particularly generous, something that is often missing in apartments, but here in the supplier, as in the entire house, it was excavated from every niche and sometimes even designed for unsightly pipelines in the main bath.

Lights and shadows are used for the atmosphere everywhere, especially in the committed. “It is a more male space and has a feeling of coco,” says Catherine. “It is a beautiful place for the winter in which the customer's sons can see sports.”

The feeling is supported by a lavish, dark blue carpet, which complements the mushy sofa, which is exposed to a media wall insert with an electric fire.

It was undoubtedly a challenging design company and a brave, but Catherine says that it is only about the relationship between the interior designer to the customer. “There must be constant communication and trust,” added Catherine. “I have to pull the personality and vision of you. I don't want to go out of the door and leave you with what my taste is and not to you.”
