Rohm has a new series of amps with high accuracy current senses-the BD1423XFVJ-C and the BD1422XG-C. They are qualified according to the AEC-Q100 automotive reliability standard. The BD1423xFVJ-C series offered in the TSSOP B8J package supports incoming voltages up to +80 V, which means that it is ideal for high-voltage environments such as 48 V DC DC converter, redundant power supplies, auxiliary batteries and electrocompressors. The series contains three models with different reinforcement settings: BD14230FVJ-C, BD14231FVJ-C and BD14232FVJ-C.
For use cases with lower voltage, the BD1422XG-C input tension available in the compact SSOP6 package supports them. This makes them suitable for automotive applications that require space-saving designs such as current monitoring and protection in 5 V/12 V current supply networks in body and drive domestic domestic domings. Like its high-voltage counter, this series also consists of three different profit options: BD14220G-C, BD14221G-C and BD1422G-C.
In recent years, in addition to conventional 5 -V/12 -V -V power supplies on the automotive market, a growing introduction of 48 -V systems has been heated by the increasing popularity of electric vehicles. If the vehicle functionality continues to have progressed, the need for precise monitoring and control over a variety of applications continues to increase and is of greater importance for electricity acquisition with high accuracy.
A power measurement amplifier indirectly measures the current that flows through a circuit by reinforcing the tiny voltage drop via a shunt resistance. The amplified signal is then sent to an ADC or a comparator for control and monitoring. The current sense of Rohm meets the market requirements of automotive quality by using proven analogue expertise. This enables high accuracy current recognition with compatibility for both negative and high -voltage environments, which contributes to improved security and reliability in automotive applications, especially in electric vehicles.
These new products achieve greater space efficiency by integrating most of the electricity recording circuits, which typically consist of an operational amplifier and discrete components, into a single package. As a result, electricity recognition is possible by simply connecting a shunt resistance. The devices also have a two-stage amplifier configuration, which consists of a chopper amplifier at the entrance and an auto-zero amplifier at the output. The adaptation of the internal resistance to reinforcement setting ensures a stable, precise power recording (± 1%) and minimizes the effects of temperature fluctuations.

In addition, the current recognition accuracy is also retained if an external RC filter circle is added for noise suppression, which significantly shortens the complexity and development time. Additional characteristics include a negative voltage tolerance of -14V, which supports the electromotive power of the back voltage and a negative voltage input.
In the future, Rohm will continue to deliver optimal solutions that contribute to a higher precision and improved reliability of the automotive devices.

terminology
AEC-Q100 automotive reliability Standard standard
AEC stands for Automotive Electronics Council, a reliability standard for electronic components for automobiles that have been created by large automobile manufacturers and US electronic component manufacturers. Q100 is a standard that applies especially to integrated circuits (ICS).
Shunt resistance
A resistance connected in a row in the power path to grasp the current in the circuit by measuring the potential difference over it.
Helicopter amplifier
An reinforcement circuit that is designed for minimizing signal offset and noise, which is mainly used for precise reinforcement of low frequency and weak DC signals.
Auto-Zero amplifier
An amplifier that automatically compensates for the offset voltage (undesirable noise and error) by continuously trying and correcting it during operation. This ensures high signal accuracy and ensures applications ideal that require ultra-specific measurements and signal processing.
