Obituary | Joanne Elaine Spotts of Langhorne, Pennsylvania

Joanne Elaine Spotts, born June 2, 1941 in Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024 at her home in Langhorne, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore Shott and Ruth (Wenrich) Shott Russell and treasured granddaughter of the late George and Anna (Maidenford) Wenrich of Pine Grove, PA. Joanne is survived by her sister Kathleen Kramer-Hess of Hershey, PA and is predeceased by her brother Robert “Bob” C. Shott of Richland, PA.

Joanne was a devoted mother to her five children: Penny (Spotts) Parker of Holtwood, PA; Marlin Spotts, Jr. of Douglassville, PA; the late Stephen Spotts; Lori (Spotts) Bramlette of Langhorne, PA; and Rebekah Spotts, Esq. from Langhorne, PA. She was also the grandmother of four grandchildren and one granddaughter.

Joanne graduated from Tremont High School in Tremont, Pennsylvania in 1959. She was a cheerleader and played clarinet in the school band. She pursued a career as an X-ray technician and married Marlin Spotts Sr. in 1963. Joanne dedicated many years to creating a loving home for her family while maintaining various side jobs, including Sarah Coventry and Home Interiors & Gifts. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and had a flair for interior design to create a beautiful home.

Joanne later worked as a sales manager for Auto Club Cellular and Lenox Collections, where she was a top sales representative and received numerous awards and appreciation from her customers.

Joanne was incredibly smart, an avid reader, and constantly learning. She'd been waiting forever for the next good read – books were an easy and sought-after gift. She highly valued education and made great sacrifices to ensure that all of her children attended private, Christian schools and continued to attend and graduate from college.

She was an elegant lady with deep and unshakable convictions; a perfectionist with very high demands on herself and her children. Known for her quick wit and infectious smile, Joanne could be the life of the party and bring joy to everyone who knew her.

A woman of deep faith, Joanne was a devoted churchgoer and lived her faith through her actions. From a young age, God allowed her to overcome many difficult challenges—moving around as a child, losing a son, being a single mother, and working two or three jobs to “keep everything afloat.” But despite all this, she never lost her faith and love for God. She remained a devoted mother and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She regularly cooked meals for needy families while also caring for her own family. She was always willing to listen and encourage others…and was always willing to give of her time to help. She was a generous giver with a heart full of compassion for anyone who was struggling. For decades, Joanne regularly donated money to feed hungry children and homeless veterans.

Joanne was much loved and will be remembered for her unwavering faith and love for her family. She is now reunited with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and with those she cared deeply about and who lived before her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
