In order to fix Michigan's lack of housing stocks, state officials set themselves the goal of creating 115,000 residential units throughout Michigan by September 2026.
By March, around 57% of the project or 65,372 units had already been completed with a mixture of new and renovated houses. This is not a little thing, said MSHDA director Amy Hovey, who said Bridge that Michigan, as the leading provider, shows creative approaches to the housing.
“Only today I received two e -mails – one from Nevada and one of Vermont – said:” Hey, can you send us how you did it? “Because people recognize the innovation we do and also want to be able to get similar programs in their states,” said Hovey.
From the implementation of a repayment aid program for first -generation buyers to recently occurring efforts to the mortgage connection, Hovey found that the programs have “increased such a demand”. This includes the demand for the recently announced employer -Assisted Housing Fund of 10 million US dollars, which Governor Gretchen Whitmer presented at the beginning of this year.
The program, which included applications at the end of February, plans to work with companies, in the hope of increasing affordable housing options for employees, as the state's ongoing unit lacks.
