Lee's Summit, Mo. (KCTV) – A teenager is in custody after a man and a woman were killed in the house of her Lee summit.
The summit of Lee, Missouri, the police announced on Thursday morning, April 10, that a case that began as a death examination is now considered a double murder.
Law enforcement officers said that the investigators received an inquiry on Wednesday at 5 a.m. to check the well -being of two people, but they did not get any names.
The records had opened at 8 a.m., and Detectives were led to a house in Churchill Street near Woods Chapel and the Langsford Road east of 291.
When the investigators finally arrived, they did not receive an answer from those inside. A search order had to be granted to enter where she finally found the late man and the woman.
Law enforcement officers said that the first arrest warrant had not included a permission to collect evidence from home, so that a second search order had to be carried out. After this arrest warrant was issued at around 9:30 p.m., the investigators were able to examine the scene.
According to the neighbors, the man and the woman who lived in the house also lived there with a 17-year-old son. The police said KCTV5 that the son was not there, but was taken into account.
“I'm here for three years and that's really not in the norm,” said Hannah Maricle, a neighbor nearby. “There are some things that happen here with the police, but never a death or murder.”
The investigators worked through the night to collect evidence and process the scene. At 10:30 a.m., April 10th, they confirmed a double murder.
“It just made me sick,” said neighbor Therese Sullivan. “It is, you know, it's a fairly quiet little neighborhood.”
“Yesterday was a kind of shocking to see the police presence that we had all the way up and down.”
The feeling of shock echoed throughout the community.
“It was just really shocking because nothing really happens down here,” continued Maricle. “It is a safe area and we met him a few times – at least the man – and it was friendly. So we were just somehow really shocked and surprised.”
And with a newborn at home, Maricle said that the incident makes her think a little differently about her neighborhood.
“It was like:” Oh, I really have to keep her in safety and think about where I walk around in the neighborhood, “she remarked.
The names of the deceased and young people in custody still have to be published.
