Scheunent doors are tended again - here is everything you need to know

There are many things that I love the Bauernhaus-style love-the worn-out patina, a strict compliance with rustic authenticity and a passion for joy and personal design. However, there are some things that I have the feeling that we could leave behind. (I'm sorry, French country! You had your time to glow. English country? Add it!) While I firmly believe that everyone should decorate in accordance with their taste and personal expression, there is a land design element that is like no other: interior star doors. Are you a timeless element that was wrongly banished to modern farmers' aesthetics, or are you really as passè as the pop culture you would believe? Let's investigate!

A happily worn barn door gives this purely white kitchen a chippy texture and happily disguises the hardworking pantry that is hidden under the stairs.

Our debate between Office about barn doors began when our digital director Katie Bowlby shared an Instagram post by designer and HGTV star Kristina Crestin, who asked a simple question: “So are we about barn doors?” When the office of the office and the trend expert of the office turned to me and I was asked to make a call – are barn doors in? Or are you outside?

It's a valid question! The modern farmhouse style has exposed to undeserved defamation in recent years-with solid barn doors at the center of the counter reaction. But this summer, Pinterest announced that Rustic farmhouse design was again trendy, especially with the gene Z audience. As with Kristina, I am inclined to say that barn doors are indeed indeed, and to be honest, they didn't really “get out” at all.

In this narrow dining room of this farmhouse in Alabama, a mint green door in the barn style facilitates a light river between the rooms without taking valuable space.

When Kristina and I talked about their contribution at the beginning of this week, we came to the same conclusion: People have to open their thoughts for what a barn door actually is. Nowadays, the term “barn door” is rightly a synonym for any kind of sliding door on a visible route. While you are a sprout of modern farmhouse style, there are many practical reasons why, according to Kristina, you should consider a barn door, even if you don't love the modern farmhouse look.

Your door decision process flows like a selection adventure table. First, is there space for a traditional swang door? (With most narrow corridors, small kitchens or standard sleeping rooms, the answer is no.) If so, great! But if not, Kristina will either choose a handkerchief or a barn door. “Some contractors with whom I work, prefer or reject or rejected dollure doors,” says Kristina. Your reason? “Topping doors, especially in high traffic areas, have to be serviced much more.” In addition, handicraft doors require more technical ingenuity to ensure that they slide seamlessly between walls, which can be expensive. Sliding doors, on the other hand, are more affordable and much easier to install and wait, which is why they have become a designer main support in the past ten years.

In this living room, a sliding barn door almost disappears into the wall when it is closed.

While we love the recovered, straight -ified look, but these are not what all barn doors give or have to-there are so many other options. “Remember to choose your perfect door how to buy art,” says Kristina. “Everything can be! Nickel gap wood, steel, the list continues.” You can easily accept a seamless look by passing your wall and door material together or standing out by having a different, striking color. If you want to stay away from modern farmhouse vibres, simply avoid a white door with matt black hardware.

If you prefer ancient doors, but are not sold on an actual Rex barn door, take a look at the history of your house or area. Kristina recently installed an ancient dentist door, which was installed with the original hand -painted lettering in an older home, just to find out that the house itself was once a dental practice.

So if you are ready to hug a barn door, you proudly do it because there has never been a better time. Kristina uses to obtain vintage from local architectural rescue centers or to buy new doors from Realcraft or Rustica.
