“You can get away with a small coffee table. Materials that can feel difficult in a larger piece such as rich, marble or deep -grained wood can work well without thinking about overwhelming the room,” says Baxter. “If you are put on by lighter materials such as rattan or linen legs, you should think of the room with a heavier element like a dark or thick carpet to maintain visual balance.”
“Materials should bring depth and contrast – think of paint, stone, glass or polished metals,” says Jain. “In small doses, these surfaces can become power players who increase the entire room.”
Which you choose depends not only on your taste and interior design style, but also on the time you are willing to maintain it. For example, marble and concrete are porous, which means that they can easily stain and spots have to be cleaned quickly to avoid damage. If durability is a main concern, look for a material that can withstand spills and wear such as metal or glass, or choose a wooden coffee table that is sealed with a protective lacquer.
Style and shape
There are many different styles and shapes of coffee tables on the market, from round and oval to rectangular and square. Some have hidden storage compartments or drawers, other nests next to each other to maximum maximum versatility and functionality.

Coffee tables are available in as many colors as shapes and sizes, from different wooden surfaces to different color metal, marble and resin. While most tend to fall into the area of neutral, you will definitely find pieces that are braver and natural.
When choosing the color of your coffee table, consider an opportunity to anchor or emphasize your space. “If your room is quiet, brave with black, chrome or varnish,” explains Jain. “If there is already drama, choose raw materials such as travertine, walnut or glass to soften the moment.”
Size
Coffee tables can have any size from only 16 inches to many foot for large, extensive rooms. The distinction feature that stands out a coffee table apart from other table species is the height. Coffee tables are usually 16 to 18 inches. Apart from that, you can have almost any size, although everything below 50 inches is viewed on the smaller side.
With small rooms, the size when choosing a coffee table is an important consideration.
