For almost 250 years, the famous resort of West Virginia, the Greenbrier, has moved generations of guests to his 11,000 scenic morning in the Allegheny Mountains. The national historical symbol, all of the license fees (Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Princess Grace) up to 28 US presidents, remains a permanent symbol of southern hospitality and exuberant interiors.

As designer Kendall Rabun, a new country house for a five -member family of New York in the Greenbrier Sporting Club, a private shared apartment on the pastoral property, who grew up in Atlanta, and now in Bronxville, New York, Designer felt the weight of the task.

“I [sensed the] Dorothy Draper is present, ”says Kendall, referring to the design legend, which masterfully converted the interior of the resort in the 1940s with 45,000 meters of fabric and 40,000 gallons.

Despite the undeniable design chops of her Chintz-loving predecessor, Kendall was confident that this modern, Greek resuscitation property earned its own point of view. “I only knew from the beginning that my goal was not trying to try to compete or emulate, but to sneak in small references [to The Greenbrier’s storied design] While an agricultural feeling is in the countries, ”says Kendall. Polished pattern

With its large-scale Paisley printing around 1800s, the Wallcovering of the entry sets a lively tone that corresponds to the history of the property. Hugo Guinness's user -defined ink -defined inkida contains five dandelions that indicate the homeowners and their three children. Under his feet, the Greek key design gives a wink of the Greek ancestors of the Greek ancestor of the Home Owner. The Bronzed brass glass glass lantern is modeled on an antiques of the 19th century.

In order to prove that a country house does not have to save on softness, simply look into the breakfast room of the house, in which block prints of floral curtains, a custom-made trailer with a collected floral pressure shadow and rattan dining chairs with pillows from a carefree material. Every visitor to the Greenbrier is familiar with the signs that come out before going to bed: Shh … it's sleepy in the south. In this relaxing floor room, Kendall coated the beds, walls and the same, soothing green color, which is reproduced in the window treatments and the ceiling wallpaper. The golf bag prints above the left bunk in the 11th hole of the room and the love of the family.
