The Genji-Kō Weihmuch burner is based on a centuries-old Japanese tradition by embedding the Genji-Kō diagram into its design. Through the art of Kōdō, where incense patterns become symbolic, the piece interprets these visual codes, which come from “The Tale of Genji”, as sculptural motifs.
The Brenner was created by Kenji Abe in collaboration with the Shoyeido, a 300-year-old frankincense manufacturer, in cooperation with Kyoto. Its origami-inspired dome shape and Genji-Kō structuring are both decorative and functional. While the smoke moves through the negative space in the folded form, it creates a fascinating visual ritual during use. With its matt bronze finish and the minimalist silhouette, the incense burner seamlessly complements both traditional interiors and modern living spaces and invites reflection through design and fragrance.
