According to a statement from Capt. Michael Shannon, officers responded to a residence at 290 North Midland Ave. on Saturday, November 1st at approximately 4:34 p.m. called after a family member reported a previous domestic incident.
After repeated attempts to contact the homeowner were unsuccessful, the Rockland County REACT Team (SWAT) was called to assist. Inside, officers discovered the bodies of a 52-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, both of whom had died from gunshot wounds, police said.
A shotgun was recovered at the scene and was believed to be the weapon used.
Investigators said there were no previous reports of domestic incidents at the address. The Orangetown Police Detective Bureau is leading the ongoing death investigation.
The department was assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff's BCI Unit, Clarkstown Police Department, Rockland County Medical Examiner's Office, Rockland Paramedics and Nyack Ambulance Corps.

Nyack Village officials expressed their condolences to the family, calling the loss “horrible” and “tragic.”
