Prevention measures for setting up the start screen

In a recently carried out community contribution, the Good Lock Moderator shared specific advice for tablet users who would like to update on a user interface. If you use certain settings for the start screen, you have to make adjustments to prevent problems with the update.

To check two important conditions:

  • Start screen arrangement: If you use the “Home Up -Start screen arrangement function, change your layout to a vertical format like a 5 × 7 grid instead of a horizontal grid.
  • Widgets use the complete vertical space: If you have widgets that occupy the entire vertical space (e.g. a 3 × 7 -widget), you must make changes before updating.

Steps that you have to follow before updating

Samsung recommends that users take one of the following actions to ensure a smooth update experience:

  • Set the layout of the start screen in a UI 6 by switching from a 5 × 7 grille to a more horizontal 7 × 5 grille.
  • Remove all widgets that completely fill the vertical space on your home screen.

Through these small adjustments, users can avoid after installing a UI 7 layout disorders.

Why these precautions are important

Without these changes, users could possibly be confronted with their start screen arrangements after the upgrade. Samsung wants to make sure that the transition to a UI 7 for all devices from Galaxy Tab is as smooth as possible.

If you plan to update your tablet to a user interface 7, it is strongly recommended to check your start screen settings and make the necessary adjustments in advance.
