Health is prosperity – this proverb applies in particular if you look at the exponential growth of the wellness industry. According to the Global Wellness Institute, the sector currently has a value of over 6 trillion dollars and is expected to achieve 2028 US dollars.
Today the influence of the wellness industry is massive: it shapes how we eat, sleep, move and think. In the past ten years there has been a growing desire to integrate well -being into every aspect of life up to our interiors. From hotels to houses and schools, more designers apply with tangible spaces.
How do you actually define the wellness design? Essentially, it boils down to create interior environments that improve health and well -being. This means tinkering rooms that are naturally calms, connected to nature and scaled according to humans.

This is particularly good at Rakxa – a leading integrative wellness center in Bangkok's green lung, Bang Kachao, a master class of wellness design. We talk to Dr. Tal Friedman, Wellness Operations Director of Rakxa, about thinking behind the holistic design and how we can repeat it in our personal rooms.
The wellness industry touches every part of life. How does Raxka define wellness design brand and why is it important?
At Rakxa, wellness design is the deliberate creation of environments that support physical, mental and emotional well -being. It is informed both by our Thai legacy and evidence -based principles of holistic healing, in which the environment plays a central role in the ability of a person to recover, rest and thrive.
The overall design of Rakxa is based on establishing a strong connection with nature

Nature is the basis of our design philosophy. From traditional Thai wisdom, we recognize that balance and well -being are deeply associated with the natural world.
This is reflected in all aspects of our built environment, from the use of natural materials to landscape design (we planted over 4,000 native trees), which invites the biological diversity and fresh air to the guest experience. Many of our rooms are designed in such a way that they have open air or seamlessly mix-naturally mixed ventilation, light and sensory connection to the environment.
For us, wellness design should create a feeling of lightness and inspire people to feel good. A good example is our wellness and durability clinic Vitallife, which was developed in collaboration with Bumrungrad International Hospital.

The room is curated with local handicrafts such as Thai dragons and ceramics, warm textures and a view of a private lagoon. It is designed in such a way that it feels more relaxed than clinical and enables guests to maintain treatments like IV therapy in a room that feels nutritious and peaceful.
Wellness at Rakxa is also about redefining luxury. Not in the traditional sense, but in a way that is barefoot, grounded and deeply soothing. It is a luxury in which the guests feel safe to slow down with nature and with themselves.
Everyone needs a place to reset. Can you share three things you have considered when creating villas in Rakxa that we can apply to our rooms?
First choose designs that support the body. Our villas were designed in collaboration with doctors and wellness specialists to support the body's natural rhythms. From the beds that do not more than 70 cm for a simple movement to blackout curtains that promote healthy sleep, every detail is designed for the purpose of an optimal break. Choose ergonomic furniture in your house, reduce visual disorder and use layer lighting to create a body -friendly environment.

Second, they prioritize natural materials. In the resort we use hypoallergenic organic materials up to an adaptable pillow menu and a soft palette of earth tones to regulate the nervous system. Try to choose breathable fabrics, poison -free materials and natural textures such as linen, wood and stone in calming colors such as sound, sand and green.
After all, always make a strong connection to nature. Each villa in Rakxa includes its own botanical garden and reflex zone massage path, which encourages guests to deal with nature through barefoot walks and careful movements. Set inner plants in your room and create moments to connect to nature. A small balcony garden or daily walk can also support your well -being.

Small things make a big difference. Can you share simple details that help ensure the well -being of the guests?
We believe that small, thoughtful details can significantly improve well -being. For example, we put seasonal flowers in flat water bowls – a traditional Thai practice to greet good energy in the room – something that is really easy for anyone who is replicated at home.
We also use local handicrafts that give the room warmth and human touch, so that it feels more personal and grounding. We pay close attention to the ergonomics of the furniture and ensure that bed height, seat angle and materials reduce the physical load and supporting.
At home, it can improve comfort and relaxation if you simply adapt the height of your chair or select a supporting pillow.

After all, urban environments stimulate. What are your suggestions to create a restorative space?
Rakxa is also located in a city, directly opposite the busy center of Bangkok, so we understand the challenges of urban life. However, it is still possible to create a restorative room at home.
First bring nature through inner plants and natural textures. Maximize natural lighting during the day and use steamed tones to reduce sensory overload.
Keep the rooms to make the mind easier and choose materials such as wood, linen or organic cotton that support cleaner air quality and comfort. With small, deliberate changes, every urban area can be reset to a place of calm and.
